Hi Julie,

I'm ready too!

Christine

Ready for another swap

Hi Juli,

I'm ready for another swap!

Kris :)

Hi! I'm new here.

Hi everyone! I'm Jill and I just joined the exchange. I love to read and am always searching for something to mark my spot in a book. Since I'm a librarian, I try hard not to dog-ear pages. I'm one of those people who is usually reading several books at a time. Not sure why that it, but I've done it for years.

When I'm not reading, I'm either working as a reference librarian, in class (working on my second master's degree), or knitting. Being a student again is taking up quite a bit of time, so there really isn't too much reading for fun going on. But spring break is coming up, so I look forward to much needed reading, relaxing, and knitting time!

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)
I'm pretty eclectic in my taste in books and what I read depends greatly on what catches my eye. I like the older mystery writers like Agatha Christie. I enjoy some horror books and one of my favorite authors is Stephen King. Dean Koontz is another favorite although I would say he's more along the lines of fantasy-suspense. I do like historical fiction as well and recently have been reading books (for class and on my own) that deal with the history of Asian immigrants to America. I like some sci-fi as long as it doesn't try to be too technical. I really am not a fan of romance, so please not Danielle Steel or anyone along those lines. And I'd prefer to stay away from Christian fiction.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc)
I don't know that I have a preference here except nothing too bulky. I'm a librarian and try to take good care of my books, particularly the ones that aren't mine.

3. What are your favorite colors?
I like blues, yellows, and purples. But I'm not really fussy when it comes to a bookmark.

4. Are there any colors you don't like?
I don't really like neon colors or bright pastels.

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be?
I don't know. Whatever my partner wants to make!

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like?
I don't think so.

7. Can you send internationally?
Sure!

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have?
I drink tea (but not herbal please!), coffee, and cocoa. I'm a chocoholic and I like black licorice also. I don't like maple sugar candy.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc)
I will use a variety of techniques to make my bookmarks. I like doing papercrafts and a bookmark is the perfect size for my attention span. I may also cross-stitch. I've been wanting to try something with beads and ribbon. And I'm open to receiving anything!

Anyone Ready for a Swap???

Who is ready for a new partner????!!!!! :)

Got a couple people waiting on new partners.......so just add a comment to this message if you're ready to swap again and I'll get new partners assigned very soon!

Hugs! Juli

Thank You Pancy

I received my package from Pancy on a dreary Saturday, it brightened my day.

bookmark and book exchange

I got two bookmarks, a note pad great for sticking in my purse when I'm at the bookstore and want to write down some book titles to read in the future! I've already dug in to the the licorice. Also included were some tear off knit patterns but I'll need to learn to knit first (it is on my to learn list for this year!) and crocheted hot pad.

Thanks Again Michelle!

Just to update the sent/recieve list....Michelle sent me a great envelope of goodies; including a yummy rice mix, a great knitting book along with many origami bookmarks, and of course....chocolate :) I don't know how to get a picture up yet, so please bear with me. I am ready to swap again whenever someone is ready!

Hi!

I just joined today. I'm wicked excited. Anyways, here are my answers to the survey.

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)

I like all kinds of books (I am an English major)! I really prefer fiction over non-fiction, especially mysteries and classics.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc)

Any and all!

3. What are your favorite colors?

Greens, Blues, Pinks, Reds - almost all colors.

4. Are there any colors you don't like?

Black and yellow.

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be?

Surprise me.

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like??

Nope.

7. Can you send internationally?

Yep.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have??

I like almost everything. I drink tea every day, so that is always good. I'm not big on green tea, though. The only candy I don't like is licorice.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc)

I will probably knit or crochet my bookmarks, but it doesn't matter to me what my partner chooses to do for mine.

Hi, all!

Sorry I didn't post as soon as I joined -- caught some nasty flu from my hubby, and I'm still fightin' it. But I thought I should post my response to the survey here, as well as having posted it to my own blog a while back. ( That's at http://lene.wordpress.com/ if you want to stop by sometime.) I've deleted a couple of mild cuss words from my response when posting it here, although they were in my original post at my own blog -- I try to be polite in other forums but will warn you that I speak with my usual lack of hesitation when on my own blog, in case you do consider visiting.

BOOKMARK SWAP SURVEY:

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)

I like almost any genre, but tend to read more science fiction and fantasy, non-fiction history and biographies, or other non-fiction.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc)

I like them all!

3. What are your favorite colors?

Morning glory blue, peony pink, light lemon yellow, emerald green, deep chocolate brown, midnight blue…

4. Are there any colors you don’t like?

Hmmm. Maybe baby poo brown or potato bug green or battleship grey.

5. What sort of “theme” would you like your bookmark to be?

Surprise me! I’ll enjoy anything you make.

6. Are there any “themes” that you wouldn’t like??

Not really. Just having someone go to the trouble to make something for me, especially if they relax and genuinely enjoy what they’re doing, will bring me pleasure.

7. Can you send internationally?

Not a problem.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don’t like/can’t have??

I like everything. It shows! I enjoy sweets, coffee, teas, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon… I swear, I really do like non-food items, too, but you’d never guess it from the way I natter on about edibles.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc)

Well, I do crochet, but I’d like to play with making bookmarks using other types of materials and crafts, too. Whatever seems like fun at the time. As for what I’d like to receive, do I still need to say “anything!?”

Happy to join you! This sounds like so much fun, can't wait to participate.

Look what I got from Lucy!

I am so spoiled! An interesting looking book. A baggie of teas and coffee flavors, lotions, papers, stickers, and best of all a bookmark I am in love with. It has a celtic knot and it is personalized! (it's so hard for me to find anything with my name on it!) I love it! Thank you Lucy. I am ready to swap again. Sign me up!- Briana in AK

Wednesday, February 07, 2007

Thanks, Briana...

This is what I received from Briana....

I have already used the note cards and the magnet is on my fridge...a perfect saying I may add. Briana did a decoupage bookmark which is one I don't have ( I love bookmarks probably as much as I love books). She did a great job. I told her in an email that I thought it was really cool that she sent me a book about two Alaskan women....where she is from. It's next on my reading list. I also liked this cause it is a book I may not have thought to read. That's what I love about this exchange....you discover new books and new authors you may not have known about.
Briana, your swap package is in the mail....get ready to attach the postman! Enjoy!

Greetings from frigid NH!

Hi everyone, most of this is new to me, but I know that I love to read, swap, make new contacts and craft most of all, so this should be fun! I'm ready...

. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc) I'm not big on romance books, but I have loved every Nicholas Sparks book I've ever read. I like contemporary womens fiction like books by Debbie Macomber, but also loved all books by Dan Brown and the few I've read by Dean Koontz. Also like books like Memoirs of a Geisha. Guess I'll read anything recommended except not a fan of sci-fi or fantasy. Oh yeah any of the Chicken Soup for the Soul books are good too. ... Guess I like books.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc) I'd like anything that isn't too thick like plastic canvas.

3. What are your favorite colors? Purple (surprise), reds, blues, multi-colored, vibrant

4. Are there any colors you don't like? pastels

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be? I am open

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like?? Negative messages, dark

7. Can you send internationally? Sure

. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have?? I have no restrictions as far as goodies are concerned (I probably should!) anything chocolate would always be welcome, I like hot beverages like tea and cocoa. I am working on a stash of handmade papers to make collages with, so fibery papers would be great. But most of all, I would love my swapper to share her ideas with me. Any reciepes, quotes, patterns or directions for some craft project that she would like to share.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc) Off the top of my head, I'm thinking about using either collage, decoupage, fabric, or beads/charms on waxed linen (book thongs); it will depend on the preference of my swap partner. I will be grateful for whatever creative inspiration my match would like to share.

10. Do you have any allergies??? Just cats....please do not mail me your cat

11. Do you smoke, have cats/dogs, or anything that other members might be allergic to?? I live in a non-smoking home with an old dog that does not get involved in my crafts whatsoever.

I look forward to swapping!

Christine :)

Another New face!

Big welcome to Michele H. from CA!! :)

We're glad to have you swapping with us!

Hugs! Juli

I'm ready for a swap!

I'm brand new here, but ready to swap with someone...just letting you know.

Kris :)

Anyone ready for a new partner???

Who is ready for a swap???????

Just leave a comment on this message and let me know.......I'll get you fixed up!

Hugs! Juli

I'm excited to join this swap!

I'm excited about this new swap that I just joined...it covers all of my favorites: books, knitting, and swaps. Thanks to those who are hosting this, and have a wonderful weekend.
Here's my exchange survey:

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc) I enjoy medical mysteries, Christian fiction, books on travel, local cookbooks, knitting fiction mysteries.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc) I'm not picky, but I love fun, quirky short bookmarks...tasseled or book thong-type bookmarks are nice, as well as knitted or crocheted, etc. Also the layered paper or ATC-look. Very nice!

3. What are your favorite colors? My favorite colors are jewel-tones (bright batik colors),
or cherry red, or a combo of chocolate brown and pink (think of chocolate-covered cherries!)

4. Are there any colors you don't like? neon colors, or baby pink,blues, mint green, or yellow;
plain brown or orange aren't favorites. :)

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be? Hmmm...I like themes regarding: knitting, dragonflies, coffee, chocolates...Bible verses, too.

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like?? no scary or "new age" things, I guess.

7. Can you send internationally? Prefer to keep shipping within the USA at this time as I'm already involved in another international swap, but I am willing to do international shipping.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have?? I love coffee (esp. Dunkin Donuts), cocoa, Swedish Fish candies, and all sorts of milk and dark chocolates.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc) I will either make a knitted bookmark, or a beaded book thong type with theme/crystal and glass bead in colors of swappers choice, or even a quilted bookmark, depending on what the swapper likes best from their profile. I also can cross-stitch, but not crochet. I like the same above types, too.
See question #2. :)

10. Do you have any allergies??? None

11. Do you smoke, have cats/dogs, or anything that other members might be allergic to?? We have a smoke-free home, have 2 dogs and 2 cats, but the cats aren't around the yarn.

New member!!!

Please welcome our newest swapper -- Kris from NH!! :)

Welcome Kris! I think you'll have a great time with this swap group!! :)

Bookmark Pattern Posted to My Blog

For anyone interested, I have posted a new original pattern to my blog, ColorSplash Bookmark. It's a knitted bookmark pattern.

You can see it here: http://julisjots.blogspot.com/2007/02/colorsplash-knit-bookmark.html

The pattern was inspired by one of those "I wonder if I can knit with that??" moments. :)
