My swap answers...

I sent these to my swap partner but thought I would post them too....

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical biographies, autobiographies fantasy, sci-fi, etc..)

I'm not really that picky since I like to try new things and see what's out there. I have to say I don't care for horror and sci-fi tho. Fantasy, not too much either. I do like mystery, crime and court sorta things, romance, historical, and just about any other type of fiction.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best?

Again, not picky. Just not too bulky for a book.

3. What are your favorite colors?

Love colorful anything....lots of bright cheery colors.

4. Are there any colors you don't like?

Not crazy about black unless it's combined bright flowers or something like that.

5. What sort of "theme" would you like your bookmark to be?

Well, I'm sorta liking the purple/red thing right now (red hat society) but I also love butterfly/garden anything.

6. Are there any "themes" that you wouldn't like?

Nothing scary or dark themed.

7. Can you send internationally?

Definately.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc.) what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have?

I drink coffee, tea, cocoa, love candy.....anything is good for me.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc.)

I'm into cross stitch so that is probably where I'm headed this time but I love to receive all crafts!

10. Do you have any allergies?

No

11. Do you smoke, have cats/dogs, or anything that other members might be allergeic to?

No smoking in my house but I do have 1 cat and 3 dogs. I try to be as careful as I can tho, but you can only do so much.

Enjoy...Lucy

Bookmark package from Pancy!!

I received a bookmark package from Pancy this week!! It's fab Pancy -- I love it all!!

She sent two rainbow colored bookmarks, 2 emory boards, some tea, a memo list pad, and "Velocity'' by Dean Koontz!

Looks like a deliciously creepy book! Here's the blurb from the back cover:

"If you don't take this note to the police...I will kill a lovely blonde schoolteacher...If you do...I will kill an elderly woman active in charity work. You have six hours to decide. The choice is yours.

"The typewritten note under his windshield wiper seems like just a sick joke. But in less than 24 hours, Billy Wilkes, and ordinary hard working guy, is about to see his life take on the speed of a nightmare....''

Creepy, eh!! :) I can't wait to read it!

Thank you Pancy!

KARLA'S ANSWERS TO QUESTIONAIRE

Juli, I want to stay in the Bookmark Exchange! I love books and making bookmarks! I'm glad that we're waking up this sleeping swap. :)

Here are my answers to the questionaire:

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc) I enjoy biographies, autobiographies, historical, Christian inspirational and Christian fiction stories.

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc) I like all types of bookmarks. My favorites lean towards long, lacy and elegant, but I love fun and whimsical, too.

3. What are your favorite colors? My favorite colors are fuschia and all shades of pinks and reds, jewel tones like cobalt blue and emerald green, ivory, white, and lime green. If a bookmark was made with more than one color, I like color combinations of pink/black, pink/brown, turqoise/brown, red/black, and lime green/fuschia.

4. Are there any colors you don't like? There aren't any colors I necessarily don't like. I like to have something fun and pretty to look at. A brown bookmark might not be all that pretty, but with some embellishments or complimentary colors incorporated within, it could look awesome!

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be? Theme? Hmmm....victorian, lacy, sweet-looking...or whimsical and fun! I like floral themes, butterflies, ladybugs, dragonflies, and green frogs, too. For Winter theme, I love snowflakes!

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like?? I prefer not to receive Halloween-themed, but we're a little far from that holiday. I don't mind orange or Fall colors and themes, just not Halloween (ghosts, vampires, jack o'lanterns, scary stuff. But black cats or pumpkins are ok, 'cause they're common to everyday life and Fall).

7. Can you send internationally? Prefer to keep shipping within the USA at this time, but will consider international shipping.

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have?? I love extras! Chocolate candies or peppermints, caramels, or nuts. Oreo cookies, Fig Newtons, graham crackers. I also like cocoa and hot chocolates. My tea stash is plentiful right now.

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc) I will probably use crochet the most in making my bookmarks, but I might do a cross-stitch one or a knitted one once in awhile. I might also be using beads and buttons to embellish. To receive, I'm partial to thread, but I'm open to any craft.

10. Do you have any allergies??? None

11. Do you smoke, have cats/dogs, or anything that other members might be allergic to?? I do not smoke (hubby smokes outside) and have one indoor cat. And yes, sometimes I see its hair in my thread...but then sometimes I see my long strands in there, too!

Hi :)

Hi, Thanks for posting about this Juli, I love bookmark swaps, and too get a new book at the same time is an added bonus :) :)

How do we get a partner? do we just ask on here? if that's what we do, and someone wants too swap i'm ready :)

New member!

Please welcome Barb from Canada! She's our newest member here at The Great Bookmark Exchange!

Barb is a member over at Crochetville for those who frequent the 'ville! She's an excellent swapper, and a great gal!!!

Please give her a warm and hearty GBE welcome! :)

New blog button

My husband is learning to use PS7, so he made us a new blog button. :)

We got a book "Learn to use PS7 in 24 hours.'' Hubby has been going to town with it! I'm going to start learning next! :) Then maybe I can replace the UGLY button I've been using for my personal crafting blog for 2 years. lol.

Hugs! Juli

Let's get swappin!!!

Hi Gals!!! The holiday season is officially over!! :) It's 2007!!! Let's get crafting and swapping!!

I have sent an email out to all members of the group. Let me know by email, or post a message to the group, and let me know if you want to continue with the bookmark exchange, or if you're ready for a new partner!! :)

I think it would be a good idea for all of us to update our survey answers -- so please post a new survey for the bookmark swap to your personal blog, or here on the swap blog.

Survey:

1. What genre of books do you enjoy most? (i.e. mystery, romance, horror, historical, biographies, autobiographies, fantasy, sci-fi, etc)

2. What sort of bookmarks do you like best? (long, short, lacy/elegant, fun/cute, corner, tasselled, etc)

3. What are your favorite colors?

4. Are there any colors you don't like?

5. What sort of "theme'' would you like your bookmark to be?

6. Are there any "themes'' that you wouldn't like??

7. Can you send internationally?

8. If your partner wants to send along extra goodies (like tea, candy, cocoa, etc), what do you enjoy? And is there anything you don't like/can't have??

9. What crafts are you going to use to make your bookmarks? Is there a particular craft type you would like to receive? (knitted bookmarks, plastic canvas, etc)

10. Do you have any allergies???

11. Do you smoke, have cats/dogs, or anything that other members might be allergic to??

If you aren't already a member of the swap, this group is an ongoing swap. When someone finishes an exchange, they can request a new partner when they are ready for a new swap! Each swap requires at least one hand-made bookmark, and a gently used paperback book. Extra goodies are not required, but can be sent as well. :) Decide on extra things with your partner. :)

If you'd like to join the exchange, we LOVE to have new members! Just email me at juliwyant [at] bellsouth [dot] net for more information and instructions on how to signup. :)

Hugs! Juli
